Large Bassine à Oeufs

Some call it a Tempering bowl, our venerable Parisian dealer terms it a Grande Bassine à Oeuf, or large meringue (egg white) whisking bowl.  We pass these by as a rule because they're usually quite dented.  But not this beauty...she's entirely hand hammered and in remarkable condition.  And at twelve pounds she's quite a trophy piece.

Thinking about the history of this piece...perhaps hanging somewhere in a Patisserie window where crispy sweet Meringues were what fires our passion for French copper.
